The municipality of Castellón province is expected to break tourism revenue records. Although the final economic impact indicators for all of Oropesa del Mar from last year are yet to be published, the hotels of Magic World Resort have closed the year with historic revenue highs. Additionally, Oropesa ended 2024 with occupancy rates around 90% during peak season months such as August.
We can confidently say that the transformation of Marina d’Or into Magic World Resort has undoubtedly been a key driver in the significant tourism growth of Oropesa del Mar in 2024. The data reflects a substantial increase in occupancy, revenue, and profitability for the entire Castellón province.
During the peak season from July to September, Magic World Resort achieved an average occupancy rate of 83.33%, surpassing the 59.66% recorded by the former Marina d’Or in 2023 (Graph 1), representing an increase of 23.67%. In terms of revenue, the resort saw an 81% growth in August, while the Average Daily Rate (ADR) rose by 56% between June and September (Graph 2), significantly improving the profitability of both local and provincial accommodations.
In 2024, provincial hotel occupancy reached 71%, one percentage point higher than the previous year, with over 3.5 million overnight stays registered by November, according to INE data.
This strong momentum in Oropesa del Mar has contributed to the overall tourism growth in the province—clear proof of Magic World's positive impact.
